Over half of Scotland's malt whisky distilleries are in Speyside. The Malt Whisky Trail comprises 8 malt whisky distilleries and a cooperage. Seven of the eight distilleries are in production and operational and include The Glenlivet, Cardhu, Glen Moray and Glenfiddich.  The Dallas Dhu Distillery museum and the fully operational Dufftown Cooperage are fascinating insights into Scotland’s rich whisky heritage.

There are numerous golf options for all standards of golfers. Grantown-on-Spey Golf Club, Boat Of Garten Golf Club, Carbridge Golf Club all within 25mins drive. 

A little further north you have Scottish Open venue, Castle Stuart and Nairn Golf Club 60mins north of Aird.

Grantown on Spey is situated in the centre of the Scottish Highlands and only 14 miles from Aviemore. A traditional Highland town on the River Spey on the northern edge of the Cairngorms National Park. The town is surrounded by ancient woodlands, much of which is community owned and which offer a unique habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. These Anagach Woods have way marked trails and there is walking for all abilities. There are also numerous other walks and trails around the town which offer wonderful views over the surrounding hills and mountains.The town’s Square and High Street are lined with unique, independent and interesting shops and businesses selling everything from children’s clothes to whisky, fishing lines to pottery. There are numerous cafes, bars and restaurants offering a wide range of meals, drinks and snacks to suit all tastes and pockets.

There are endless options for walks in the surrounding area and across the Cairngorms National Park from low and easy loch walks to extremely strenuous hikes up Munros.

Enjoy the many paths through Anagach Woods in Grantown-on-Spey or the purpose-built mountain bike trails at the heart of Glenlivet Estate for fantastic fun-packed mountain bike trails with spectacular scenery and stunning views. 

 The Cairngorms National Park is the UK's largest national park and the largest area of arctic mountain landscape in the UK, providing a home to 25% of the country's endangered species, four of Scotland's highest mountains and Britain's favourite picnic spot so there really is something for everyone
